Mocktar Dicko finds himself only after running away to lose himself. The Nigerian peasant goes to look for work in Essakane, a gold mine in Northeast Burkina Faso, Africa, to escape the painful memories of losing his child. There, he finds that the gold rush had ended two decades earlier, and only a ghost town remains. With the citizens of the wasteland barely able to survive, Mocktar finds a renewed will to persist after meeting a beautiful widow courageously trying to provide for her daughter.
